Thanksgiving 2019 Table Inspiration
One of the questions I get asked most often is, "do you really throw so many parties?" And the answer is no, not every fabulous-looking meal or event on our website and Instagram had any actual guests! But some, like this our Thanksgiving 2019 table inspiration shoot, are wonderful tried and tested success stories that I thoroughly enjoy with my friends.
The base for this celebration was our Camel Gold Italian Linen Tablecloth - a rich, warm-colored 100% linen woven in Italy and sewn in California that is elegant year-round, but really comes into its own in the autumn.
I rarely match napkins to the tablecloth, preferring to exercise a little creativity. The perfect co-ordinating napkins for our Camel tablecloth are our White Linen Napkins with Gold Hemstitch. The white adds depth and interest to the table - and you can add any color hemstitch to your napkins to match a tablecloth, china or even chair fabric or wallpaper.
For the flowers, we headed to our invaluable local resource, the Los Angeles Flower Market. Down the center of the table we constructed a leafy runner from eucalyptus. Throughout the runner, we interspersed hand-made ceramic vases by Los Angeles artist Liat Shore (available in our San Marino store) with a mix of golden flowers and leafy greens to provide visual continuity from the tablecloth and eucalyptus. Then to add a little extra holiday punch we included a few vibrant burgundy Dahlias.
Thanksgiving is probably not the time to get too radical with the menu - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. However, the number one rule of entertaining is to make your guests feel special, comfortable and well looked after. One of my guests is vegan, so instead of making her a different meal, I embraced the opportunity to make a well-rounded vegan holiday feast...with a side of turkey!
Instead of traditional stuffing I served portobello mushrooms stuffed with garlic, breadcrumbs, the mushroom stalks and vegan cream cheese alternative.
The other dishes were a hearty tuscan bean stew (which also provides a delicious gravy), roasted brussel sprouts garnished with pomegranate seeds and walnuts, and a sweet potato puree (add a dash of orange juice for the win!)
To round out the meal we served a vegan apple pie topped with almonds. The vegan puff pastry was store-bought so even easier than a butter-based classic crust!
Look at those happy faces - a beautiful, delicious Thanksgiving to remember.
The linens are all available in the Huddleson online linens store and please email us, call 626 399 0320 or visit our San Marino, CA shop to inquire about custom size tablecloths or custom hemstitched linen napkins. Happy holidays!
